Karika 49
एकादशेन्द्रियवधाः सह बुद्धिवधैरशक्तिरुद्दिष्टा। सप्तदशवधा बुद्धेर्विपर्ययात्तुष्टिसिद्धीनाम् ॥४९॥
ēkādaśēndriyavadhāḥ saha buddhivadhairaśaktiruddiṣṭā। saptadaśavadhā buddhērviparyayāttuṣṭisiddhīnām ॥49॥
[ एकादशः इन्द्रिय वधाः सह बुद्धि वधैः अशक्तिः उद्दिष्टा। सप्तदश वधा बुद्धेः विपर्ययात तुष्टि सिद्धीनाम्॥
ēkādaśaḥ = eleven; indriya = to indriyas (organs of senses, actions and mind); vadhāḥ = injuries; saha = along with; buddhi = intellect; vadhaiḥ = injuries to; aśaktiḥ = results in incapacity, weakness; uddiṣṭā = it is said; saptadaśa = seventeen are; vadhā = injuries; buddhēḥ = to intellect; viparyayāta = opposite of; tuṣṭi = complacency; siddhīnām = and perfections;]
Twenty eight types of weakness or incapacity are elaborated. Eleven types are produced by injury to Indiriyas. Injuries to intellect are of seventeen types. They are inversion of nine complacencies and eight perfections.
Twenty eight types of weakness/incapacity = injury to eleven indriyas (5 senses, 5 organs of action, and mind) + inversion of nine complacencies + inversion of eight perfections.
