Rig Veda 1.191 (Saṃvanana Sūkta)
Ṛṣi: saṃvananaḥ, Devatā: saṃjñānam, Chandas: anuṣṭup
(Translated by Madhukrishna Sudhindra)

  • Preface
  • Rig 1.191.01
saṁ gacchadhvaṁ saṁ vadadhvaṁ saṁ vo manāṁsi jānatām। devā bhāgaṁ yathā pūrve saṁjānānā upāsate॥
Go together, discuss together, together let your minds be oriented to kowing, just as the gods, in the past, knowing well, accepted their share.
  • Rig 1.191.02
samāno mantraḥ samitiḥ samānī samānaṁ manaḥ saha cittameṣām। samānaṁ mantramabhi mantraye vaḥ samānena vo haviṣā juhomi॥
Common be the prayer of these (assembled worshippers), common be the acquisition, common the purpose, associated be the desire. I repeat for you a common prayer, I offer for you with a common oblation.
  • Rig 1.191.03
samānī va ākūtiḥ samānā hr̥dayāni vaḥ। samānamastu vo mano yathā vaḥ susahāsati॥
Common, (worshipppers), be your intention; common be (the wishes of) your hearts; common be yourthoughts, so that there may be thorough union among you.
