  • Rig 1.190.01
    r̥taṁ ca satyaṁ cābhīddhāttapaso'dhyajāyata। tato rātryajāyata tataḥ samudro arṇavaḥ॥
    Truth (of thought) and truthfulness (of speech) were born of arduous penance, thence was nightgenerated, thence also the watery ocean.
  • Rig 1.190.02
    samudrādarṇavādadhi saṁvatsaro ajāyata। ahorātrāṇi vidadhadviśvasya miṣato vaśī॥
    From the watery ocean was the year afterwards produced, ordaining nights and days, the ruler of every moment.
  • Rig 1.190.03
    sūryācandramasau dhātā yathāpūrvamakalpayat। divaṁ ca pr̥thivīṁ cāntarikṣamatho svaḥ॥
    Dhātā in the beginning created the sun and moved the heaven, the earth, the firmament, and the happy (sky).
