पूर्वोत्पन्नमसक्तं नियतं महदादिसूक्ष्मपर्यन्तम्। संसरति निरुपभोगं भावैरधिवासितं लिङ्गम् ॥४०॥
pūrvōtpannamasaktaṁ niyataṁ mahadādisūkṣmaparyantam। saṁsarati nirupabhōgaṁ bhāvairadhivāsitaṁ liṅgam ॥40॥
[पूर्वे उत्पन्नम् असक्तं नियतं महत् आदि सूक्ष्म पर्यन्तम्। संसरति निर् उपभोगं भावैः अधिवासितं लिङ्गम्॥
pūrvē utpannam = having existed before creation; asaktaṁ = being indifferent; niyataṁ = controlling; mahat = mahat; ādi = and others; sūkṣma = subtle elements; paryantam = to the end; saṁsarati = flows together; nir upabhōgaṁ bhāvaiḥ = not having the desire to enjoy; adhivāsitaṁ = residing in; liṅgam= physical body;]
Having existed before creation, being indifferent, controlling Mahat and other subtle principles, flows together till the end, without having the desire to enjoy, residing in physical bodies.
Reference taken here is not of Purusha or individual soul, but atman the super soul or GOD. Being indifferent and not having the desire to enjoy are not the properties of individual purusha (refer to the verse 17). Every old scripture has its secrets and places where not so intelligent are expected to be misguided!
