Sankhya Kārika
Karika 24
अभिमानोऽहङ्कारस्तस्माद् द्विविधः प्रवर्तते सर्गः। एकादशकश्च गणस्तन्मात्र पञ्चकश्चैव ॥२४॥
abhimānō'haṅkārastasmād dvividhaḥ pravartatē sargaḥ। ēkādaśakaśca gaṇastanmātra pañcakaścaiva ॥24॥
[अभिमानः अहङ्कारः तस्मात् द्वि विधः प्रवर्तते सर्गः। एकादशकः च गणः तन्मात्र पञ्चकम् च एव॥
abhimānaḥ = the attachment to self; ahaṅkāraḥ = is ego; tasmāt = from it; dvi vidhaḥ = two types; pravartatē = tendencies; sargaḥ = at the time of evolution; ēkādaśakaḥ = eleven; ca = and; gaṇaḥ = set of; tanmātra = subtle sense elements (tan-matras); pañcakam = five; ca = and / that; ēva = only;]
The attachment to self is the ego (ahaṅkāraḥ). From it emerge two-fold tendencies at the time of creation. The eleven and the sets of five sensations (tanmātra).
Here the set of 16 previously mentioned are being elaborated as 11 indriyas and 5 sensations. They originate from ego simultaneously
