Sankhya Kārika
Karika 21
पुरुषस्य दर्शनार्थं कैवल्यार्थं तथा प्रधानस्य। पङ्ग्वन्धवदुभयोरपि संयोगस्तत्कृतः सर्गः ॥२१॥
To show and give the experience and for the sake of its liberation, Purusha's union with Prakriti was formed by the natural creation, similar to the union of the crippled with the blind who complement each other.
It is creation which has brought the purusha and the prakruti together and creation is for the sake of the liberation of Purusha. Who is the benevolent creator who is creating for the sake of the liberation of the Purusha? Word 'darśanārthaṁ' is used, which means to show. Whom? Usually, the word 'darśanā' is used even today in India to mean seeing GOD in a temple. Thus, in Sankhya, GOD is not indicated as a principle explicitly, but is anyway implied. Hence, the tradition has it that this knowledge was imparted to Asuri (demon) by Bruhaspati as a trick (tantra) and not as a shastra (scripture).
